Michael (Mike) T. Underwood has served as executive vice president of the bank since 2006.   Mike has 30 years of banking experience, with his prior banking experience being with Habersham Bank in Cornelia, Georgia where he held several management-level positions since 1989. As First Citizens Bank of Georgia's executive vice president, Dawson County President, and acting Senior Lender, Mike is responsible for managing and developing market share in Dawson County, Georgia and the surrounding areas. Prior to joining Habersham Bank, he spent his first eight years in banking with First National Bank of Gainesville (now Regions Bank) in Gainesville, Georgia.

Mike is a graduate of the Dawson, White and Habersham county leadership programs.  He is past president of  the Leadership Division of the Community Bankers Association of Georgia,  the Cornelia Kiwanis Club, and the Cleveland Kiwanis’ Clubs. Mike is the immediate past Chairman of the Dawson County Chamber of Commerce and has also served as chairman of the White County Chamber of Commerce.  He received a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance from North Georgia College, and he is a graduate of the University of South Carolina's Graduate School of Bank Investments and Financial Management as well as the University of Virginia's Graduate School of Retail Bank Management.  He is also a graduate of the Georgia Academy of Regional Economic and Leadership Development.  Mike is currently serving on the Community Bankers Association of Georgia’s Member Services Committee and the Leadership Division Board.  In addition, Mike is a member of the Board of Directors of the Northeast Georgia Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Mike and his wife Karen are going into their 30th year of marriage and have three sons. He is active in both his community and his church where he is currently serving as an Elder and Sunday School Teacher.
